Why WebP
WebP files are typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality and support transparency like PNG. Google PageSpeed flags non-WebP images, so converting product photos and blog images is one of the quickest wins for Core Web Vitals.
Choosing quality
Quality 80–85 is the sweet spot for photos on the web. For graphics with flat colours and text, WebP at 90+ stays crisp and still beats PNG on size. All modern browsers support WebP; keep a JPG fallback only for very old devices.
