What is HEIC

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default because it stores the same quality in about half the space of JPG. The catch is that Windows, many Android phones, government portals and older software cannot open it. Converting to JPG makes the photo universally usable.

Converting without losing quality

This tool decodes the HEIC on your device and re-encodes it as a JPG at the quality you set; 90–95 keeps it indistinguishable from the original. To stop the problem at the source, set iPhone Camera → Formats to Most Compatible.
