What makes a password strong
Length matters more than complexity. A 16-character random password with letters, numbers and symbols has about 100 bits of entropy and would take centuries to brute-force; an 8-character one can fall in hours. Use 16 or more for anything important and never reuse a password across sites.
How this generator works
It uses your browser's crypto.getRandomValues, the same randomness source used for encryption keys, so the output is unpredictable. Nothing is sent to a server and no history is stored. Generate several at once and copy the one you like into a password manager.
Frequently asked questions
Are the passwords stored anywhere?
No. They exist only on your screen until you navigate away.
Should I include symbols?
Yes where allowed; some banking sites restrict symbols, so untick the option if a site rejects it.
How do I remember a random password?
Use a password manager; it is far safer than memorising or reusing passwords.
