Why exact age matters
Government job notifications, UPSC and SSC exams, school admissions and insurance all set age limits as on a specific date. This tool calculates age exactly as those rules do, counting completed years, months and days between two dates.
How the calculation handles months
Months have different lengths, so the tool counts whole calendar months first and then the remaining days, which matches how age is reckoned on official forms. Leap-day birthdays are counted on 28 February in non-leap years.
Frequently asked questions
How is age calculated for a government exam?
As on the cut-off date given in the notification, usually the 1st of a month. Enter that date in the 'as on' box.
Does the result include the birthday itself?
Age increases on the birthday, so on your birthday you are counted as having completed the year.
